Seriously Spooky

Hello All,

Today I am entering INKspirationalThe Paper Players and CASology. This card is probably the oddest, spookiest card I have ever made. This card not only looks odd but was created oddly as well. I will reveal this later on. Firstly, here is my card for today, enjoy...

Creepy, huh?! I was trying out a new for me technique by water coloring on dark paper. I thought it couldn't be done until I tried it out! I made several panels and with my mind blown I stored the extras for future use!!!
The skull face is so creepy coming out of the watercolor. It looks like it is after you to take your soul. EEEK!
I wanted the sentiment to be discovered and not the center of attention.
I stamped the sentiment and embossed it using clear powder. The sentiment was comprised out of two sets; one from Studio G and the other from SU (retired), I think.
 Challenges entered:
CASology: Week 270- odd
INKspirational: Challenge 145- One Layer Card
The Paper Players: CAS Spooky- PP366

As noted above this card was created strangely too. I made several panels using the same technique. Some turned out and decided to store the rest for future use.

I also had other experimental projects stored with it. One such project used vegetable oil as part of the design. Turned out good enough for me to store as well. I know you can see where this is going, but I stored the oil panel under one of the watercolor panels and the oil seeped through to the watercolor paper.

A few weeks later, I was looking for another panel and almost screamed when I saw this!! I didn't make this!! Then it dawned on me what had happened. Looking at it further I thought it would make a fantastic spooky card. I saw these challenges and right away thought of this panel.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

A very simple card for a wonderful message.
The main image was so beautiful on its own.
All I did was change its color and slipped in the sentiment.
This card is perfect for my tween girl!
The message is so great and inspiring.

Wicked Shoes

Hello All,

I am pleased to have been asked by Creative with Stamps to be their guest designer for this mid-month inspiration! Also, I am a guest designer for November and December! So excited to be designing with such a talented team. Thank you for this opportunity. As you know, this month's theme is all about SHOES. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This image is actually from one stamp. I stamped the mirror image by stamping on a gelli-plate and then on paper.  Lastly, I stamped the actual stamp next to the gelli-plate image.

The sentiment is just perfect for this card.
Because as we all know shoes are fabulous!
The glittery and swirly background plays nicely
with the swirly witch shoes.

Hey Cupcake

Hello Everyone,

For today I am going to playing along with Double D Challenge and Match this Sketch Challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I adore these little ghost cupcakes floating around the night sky.
The ghost cupcakes are from A Day for Daisies and the moon is from Altenew.
I colored and cut each cupcake and placed them on the starry sky done by splattering paint on the gray CS.
I only used five cupcakes out of six. I thought the extra cupcake could go inside the card for an added surprise.
The composition is too cute. I have to say one of my favorite elements would be the dripping 'stuff' off of the sentiment. I thought it would an interesting detail from the MTS sketch challenge.
Double D Challenge: Mood Board- Freight Night
Match this Sketch: MTS#198
Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

Witchy not...

Tricked you!! And you thought I was going to say bitchy. Never! 😉😈

Hello All,

For today I am entering my card into The Paper Players Challenge and Double D Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!
You may not have noticed, a good thing, that there is a spider web in the foreground.
I wanted it to look like you were looking at the witch through a spider web.
Look closely and you will find three spiders hanging out.
The ominous background was done using Adobe Elements brushes. It creates a cloudy scene and some ambient light from the moon above.
Why does every witch have a black cat? Well, not this witch!
White cats can be just as adorable than black cats.
Challenges Entered:

The Paper Players: Colour Challenge- PP365
Double D Challenge: Mood Board- Freight Night

The spider web and witch are digital images from A Day for Daisies. I printed the scene with the sky and colored the witch using PP challenge colors. The sentiment actually came from two stamp companies;
Simon Says Stamp and Studio G. I thought combining both of them made for a nice sentiment.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

Neg&Pos

Hello All,

Here to share with Y'all a new challenge at The Male Room. The challenge for the next couple weeks is to Use Metal somewhere on your card! I found this challenge interesting because I wanted to find a way to use metal as a centerpiece of the card, not just an accessory. So here is what I created for today, enjoy!

Chilling huh? The photo to the left shows the stamped image as a negative image. Once you move it into the light you see her face come alive!

Note: I usually get some comments on where to get this stamp.
This stamp is from Stampendous called 'Chilling'.
It is still in production and is easily found online or craft stores.

This photo is especially creepy. It is particularly shown in the light and in shadow. It just shows the transformation this image has when light vs. darkness.
The die cut is from PT and thought it was just as creepy as the image.
Sends chills down my spine... Seriously!

Challenges Entered:
Cardz 4 Guyz
So how was this card created? Actually, it was done in a matter of minutes and made out of a tin can. First, I cut open the can using a utility knife (be careful) and straightened it out using a die cut machine. Inked up the image and embossed it using white powder. Heat set and done! The leftover tin was used to die cut the sentiment. Stacked it up using a some CS and adhered it down in place.

The effect surprised me! It took my breath away to see how it transformed in the light.

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you enjoyed your stay but more importantly, I hope you join our challenge at The Male Room. Until then take care and happy stamping! Take care all and looking forward to seeing you at The Male Room!! Happy crafting!!

All the best,
Shawna

Funky Fall Foliage

Hello, and welcome back to TheGrandStampede!

It is that time again at MHK Designs. Our new August release is out and I am here to share the new 'Funky Fall Foliage' digi stamp set.   Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The monochromatic color palette is very suited for the card.
The sentiment is subdued so I thought to create this color palette sets the aura of the card.

Enlarging the main focal point creates a 'frame' for the wonderfully said sentiment. Notice only one corner was rounded to show a smidge of black.
You will notice the edges of the image blurred a bit or scribbled.
That was done freehand using a colored pencil in a zig-zag motion. The effect is marvelous and is easy to achieve.

Kinetic Leaf

Hello Y'all!!

Another week another challenge at PINspirational! The pin will tell all but first I would like to share my card with you, enjoy!

The little fox seemed confused what is happening.
Lemon Shortbread kindly provided this image and I think it is adorable.

Like the title of this post, this card's leaf moves down a track; looking like it is falling. I have shown a trio of shots to illustrate the effect.
Above: I decided to focus on the leaves in the inspiration photo.
The patterned paper has a lot of movement and hides the leaf track so nicely. Below/Left: The large leaf was die cut using a retired SU die. Masking the sentiment then stamped and sponged on some color using Potters Clay: Memento Ink with some black on the edges. Bottom/Right: A close-up shot of the track allowing the leaf to 'fall'. I think it is camouflaged very nicely.

Challenges Entered:

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at PINspirational. It should be fun! Until then take care and happy crafting.
